Journaux dans le monde : le papier tombe en-dessous de 50 % du chiffre d’affaires

World Press Trends Outlook: Print revenues fall below 50% for first time

The latest World Press Trends Outlook report marks a historic shift: for the first time in our research, print circulation and advertising revenues account for less than half of news publishers’ total revenues.

Print remains the largest single source of revenue, now accounting for 45% of total revenue on average. Meanwhile, digital revenues have increased to more than 30%, while “other” revenue streams – such as events, memberships, and business services – have also grown significantly and now contribute nearly 24%.

This milestone reflects the ongoing transformation of the media industry, as publishers increasingly rely on digital and alternative revenue streams to sustain their businesses.

The full World Press Trends Outlook report includes case studies and analysis on how this diversification is helping to stabilise the industry amid shifting audience behaviour and economic pressures.
